Buea Sports, Arts and Cultural Festival BUSPAC (2013)
The Buea municipality is located in Fako Division of the South West Region of Cameroon with a total population of about 200,000 Inhabitants living in 67 villages. The principal ethnic Group is Bakweri with a majority of them occupying the villages. The Urban spaces of the Municipality are cosmopolitan in nature with more than 100 local and national ethnies .The town is situated at the foot of Mount Fako, the second largest mountain in Africa after Mount Kilimanjaro in Kenya. In February each year, tourist and athletes from all over the world join Cameroonian athletes to run the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope. It is in this atmosphere that the Buea Sports, Arts and Cultural Festival is organized to provide an avenue to expose the intangible, rich, diversified cultural heritage of Cameroon, celebrating its traditions, recognizing its traditional bearers, promote cultural democracy, represent collective cultural knowledge in a grassroots way, promote cultural exchanges in a ‘museum without walls’ context.

Activities include:
Traditional wrestling, sketches, Traditional dances, Traditional choral singing, Exhibition stands, Fashion parade in African wears, Projection of interviews with African legends, Carnival (cultural parade), Gastronomy, Musical concerts, Fashion, Film/movie premieres, Arts and crafts exhibition, Training workshops, Networking sessions, Celebrity shows.

Day 01
Arrival and reception at the Douala International Airport

After breakfast, discovery of the ancient german colonial buildings around the town of Buea
Participate in activities of the Buea Sports, Arts and Cultural Festival
Dinner and overnight in Capitol Hotel Residence
Day 03
Participate in the activities of the second day of the Buea Sports, Arts and Cultural Festival
Dinner and overnight in Capitol Hotel Residence
Day 04
Travel to Limbe
Visit the Botanical Garden and the Wildlife center
Lunch at down-beach with spicy rosted fish
Return to Buea and participate in the activities of the third day of the Buea Sports, Arts and Cultural Festival
Dinner and overnight in Capitol Hotel Residence
Day 05
Participate in the activities of the last day of the Buea Sports, Arts and Cultural Festival
Dinner and overnight in Capitol Hotel Residence
Day 06
Today, we get up early and jump to the Molyko Stadium for the departure of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope
Free quarters; you can walk along the road leading to Mount Cameroon and discover the enthousiasm of the population as they discuss the chances of their favorite athletes
At about 11.00, we meet at the Molyko Stadium to watch the arrival of the race
Return to hotel and preparations for departure
Travel to Douala and transfer to the Douala International airport for departure

ANNUAL EVENTS

Mount Cameroon Race Of Hope

An international sporting event up to the summit of Mount Cameroon, 4 100m above sea level, it is the second highest mountain in Africa.

Ngondo Cultural Festival

An annual event when the Duala people perform cultural and traditional rytes. The main focus been the retrieval of the sacred pot from the sea.

Bamoun Cultural Festival (Ngouon)

This event brings together the Bamoun people, it is organized once every two years. The date can not be known in advance. However it is organized in December of the even years, e.g, December 2012, December 2014, December 2016, etc.
