Guided visit inside a southern Cameroon palace museum

An international group tour to the southern Cameroon starts on 04-Nov-2026, 03-Feb-2027, 03-Nov-2027. This three weeks tour lets you discover the wonders of the grassfield, ring road. You will visit the sultanate of Foumban and enjoy its rich culture, you will also visit the chiefdoms of the Bamilékés with their amazing architecture and landscape. You will visit the famous Bafut palace with its traditional "juju" (masked) dance. You will spend time with pygmies to learn about their culture. This tour also takes you the to Ekom-Nkam and Metchie falls, the Barombi Mbo twin crater-lakes. You will spend one night in the Korup national park and two nights in the Lobeke national park, where you will track gorillas and other primates. Then you will spend some time on the white-sand beach of Kribi, where you will have the opportunity to see the Lobe falls. Our quote includes: transport to and from Douala International airport, overnights in good tourist class hotels or camps (on the basis of 2 people sharing a room/tent), breakfast & dinner, transport by private car, fuel, toll gates, driver, guide, porters, excursion fees. Our quote excludes: flight tickets, airport taxes, tips to guides/porters, photography fees, other meals, other equipments or private expenses. We provide tents and cookers. Day 01

  • Arrival and reception at the Douala International Airport
  • Transfer to hotel.

Day 02

  • Drive to Mundemba, brief pause to visit the commercial colonial town of Kumba.
  • Continuation to Mundemba, checking at hotel.
  • Dinner and overnight.

Day 03

  • After breakfast, departure to the Korup national park, center of high international scientific research.
  • Eco-tourism and birdwatching in the park.
  • Dinner and camping.

Day 04

  • Continue visiting the Korup national park.
  • Late afternoon departure to Kumba via Mundemba.
  • Check-in at hotel
  • Dinner and overnight.

Day 05

  • After breakfast, visit the Barombi Mbo crater-lake.
  • Canoe riding to the other side of the lake to visit the small village of Barombi and its peoples.
  • Return to Kumba, dinner and overnight

Day 06

  • After breakfast, departure to Bangem, visit the impressive twin (male and female) crater-lakes.
  • Continue to Melong
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 07

  • After breakfast, Visit the famous Ekom-Nkam falls. Continue to Baham, visit the chief's palace and museum.
  • Continue to Bandjoun, visit the chief's palace and museum, learn about the traditionnal parliament.
  • Continue to Bafoussam, dinner and overnight

Day 08

  • After breakfast, visit the Métchié falls and lake Baleng.
  • Drive to Foumban and visit the artisan district, the royal palace, the great mosque, and the central market.
  • Drive to Koutaba, city tours, dinner and overnight.

Day 09

  • After breakfast, departure to Bafut via Bamenda.
  • Visit the Bafut palace, the evil forest, see the six hundred year old "talking drum"
  • Visit the museum, watch the traditional "juju" (masked) dance.
  • Return to Bamenda, dinner and overnight.

Day 10

  • After breakfast, ride through the wonderful hills to Fundong and trek on the Mbingo cliff.
  • Visit the highly venerated traditional ruler of Fundong, visit the museum where you will find the mystical antiquity "Afo-Akom". If you would accept the ritual initiation performed on any visitor willing to get to the interior of the palace, you will also receive the honorary citizenship of the kingdom.
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 11

  • After breakfast, departure to Lake Nyos, which explode in August 1986 and killed close to 2000 people and many animals, forcing inhabitants to abandon their village.
  • Visit Subum which was abandonned and is now regaining life as its former inhabitants are now returning.
  • Visit the Menchum fall, Lake Wum and the Aghem palace Return to Bamenda, dinner and overnight

Day 12

  • After breakfast, departure to Yaoundé (the capital city); wonderful landscapes along the way.
  • Arrival in Yaoundé city tours, visit the central market and the muslim quarter in Briqueterie.
  • In the evening, relaxatin at a Cabaret where you can listen to live music.
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 13

  • After breakfast, departure to Yokadouma, many stop-overs along the way for relaxation and sightseeing.
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 14

  • After breakfast, departure to Lobeke, visit the Lipoundji falls en route.
  • Dinner and overnight.

Day 15

  • After breakfast, departure to the Lobeke national park entrance, trekking for approximately 10km to get to the watch-towers.
  • Animals tracking for 2 days and 2 nights.

Day 17

  • After breakfast, 10km trekking back to the drop-off point. Travel to Yokadouma.
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 18

  • After breakfast, travel to Yaoundé.
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 19

  • After breakfast, departure to Kribi via Edéa where we visit the Pongo Songo Chimpanzees sanctuary.
  • Arrival in Kribi, check-in at a hotel with its own private beach, relaxation
  • Dinner and overnight

Day 20

  • After breakfast, visit the Lobe falls, canoe-ride to meet the pygmies of the south.
  • Return to Kribi for dinner and overnight

Day 21

  • Relaxation at the beach.
  • Late afternoon transfer to Douala international airport for departure.
